Hi, I'm Galit Lurya!

I believe that great design comes from truly understanding people - their needs, their challenges, and their stories. My unique background combines a world of imagination and problem-solving with one of tradition and community, helping me see possibilities others might miss. From startups to industry giants, I've designed experiences that help people connect and learn. Now at Amazon, I'm tackling complex challenges in healthcare, creating solutions that make a real difference in people's lives while driving significant business impact.

Kindle Library Management
Over ten years, Kindle had changed how people read, but as libraries grew to hundreds of books, readers were having trouble managing their collections. By understanding how people naturally organize their reading - from marking finished books to grouping similar titles together - I designed an experience that feels as natural as arranging books on a shelf. This transformed a frustrating task into a seamless part of the reading experience, letting readers focus on what matters: their next great book.

Kindle in-book Search
In-book Search reimagines how readers find and use knowledge in their eBooks. By understanding how people naturally explore books - from looking up concepts to revisiting important passages - I designed an intuitive search experience that works the way readers think. Integrating it with familiar tools like Page Flip made complex navigation feel natural, helping readers stay focused on learning rather than searching.
Kindle In-Book Navigation
Page Flip is a reimagined way to explore books while reading. By understanding how people naturally move through books - referencing earlier sections, checking images, or returning to bookmarked pages - I designed a navigation experience that feels intuitive while always keeping your place. This solution helped drive the Kindle app to a 5-star rating in the Apple App Store.

Kindle Oasis Warm Light
Warm Light brings the natural reading experience to digital books. Understanding that our eyes respond differently to light throughout the day, I designed a simple way for the screen to adapt - from crisp white to warm amber. This lets readers focus on their stories, not their screens.
